TIMETABLE AUTHORITY AND STUDENT CONDUCT POLICY
African Institute of Engineering and Technology

  1. Purpose
    This policy establishes clear guidelines regarding academic timetable authority, class attendance, and expected student conduct in relation to scheduled lectures and institutional operations.

  2. Timetable Authority

2.1 All class schedules are determined by the Academic Department in consultation with programme coordinators and assigned lecturers.

2.2 Timetables are structured based on:
• Lecturer availability
• Programme requirements
• Resource allocation
• Institutional planning

2.3 Once published, the official timetable is binding. Students are required to attend classes at the allocated dates and times.

2.4 Students may submit written requests for timetable consideration in cases of genuine conflict. However, approval is not guaranteed and remains at the sole discretion of the Academic Department.

  1. Class Attendance

3.1 Attendance of scheduled live sessions is expected unless the programme is formally designated as self-paced.

3.2 Students who miss a live session are responsible for catching up on all materials, recordings, and assessments provided.

3.3 Repeated absenteeism without valid communication may result in academic warnings or restricted academic support.

  1. Communication Protocol

4.1 All timetable-related concerns must be communicated respectfully through official institutional channels.

4.2 Students are not permitted to dictate, alter, or demand changes to scheduled class times.

4.3 Institutional staff and lecturers maintain authority over academic scheduling and classroom management.

  1. Student Conduct

5.1 Students are expected to demonstrate professionalism, respect, and accountability at all times.

5.2 Disruptive behaviour, inappropriate communication, or disregard for institutional procedures may result in disciplinary action in accordance with institutional policy.

  1. Orientation and Clarification

All students will receive a full explanation of programme structure, scheduling, attendance expectations, and academic procedures during orientation. It is the student’s responsibility to attend orientation and seek clarification where necessary.

  1. Policy Enforcement

This policy applies to all registered students of the African Institute of Engineering and Technology and forms part of the institutional code of conduct.
